Ahh, the warming days, great food, fun roads, and a fantastic automobilia collection brought us out of the winter doldrums. Twenty six members participated, led by our new fearless leader – Robin Lunderstadt. The bright red Ferrari led the way and despite some weird Google directions having every road number wrong, Robin led us to The Old Barn for lunch. The food seemed better than ever to most of us repeat folks. This eatery is worth the drive and well off the beaten path. And yes – it was once a real mule barn.
Led by Dan, we soon arrived at the “Country Store.” Dan and Olivia have amassed quite a collection of British cars and memorabilia. Barber poles, complete set of ExLax thermometers, many antinque gas pumps, brass nozzles, signs, oil cans, and even a few oil tanks and the glass jars used way back when. Even our elders denied seeing them in actual use. Some of my favorites are the weathered advertisements for rock bands in the 60s. Stones anyone – $3.01. Why the penny?
Oh, did I forget the cars? 3 MGBs, all original cars. One Rally Healey. A Jag. And we’ll throw in an El Camino and Camaro to round things out. A really fun day with plenty to do and see. The gathering of friends to start the spring driving season in the South was really enjoyed.
