For the past 32 years I have lived in Prattville having moved from Selma in 1985. I am married to a marvelous woman,Regina. I am a retired Special Agent with the Alabama Attorney General’s office. I am a graduate of Auburn University at Montgomery and Troy University at Montgomery and the FBI National Academy in Quantico,Va. I am a retired Chief Warrant Officer(CID) in the US Army Reserve.
I have always loved sports cars.I had a beautiful British racing green MGB (1969) that I dearly loved and my first wife made me sell so I could buy her a Datsun 260Z with a blown head gasket. In 1970 I had a 1963 Porsche (red) Super 90 Coupe that I had purchased from an Officer at Craig Field in Selma. I sold it for $1,200 to go back to school (DUH!!) I have always regretted that. Several years ago I got the flying bug and got my Private license and bought a Cessna 120 that I had for several years. I developed sleep APNEA and had to quit flying. (I went to sleep once flying back from Evergreen and woke up in Lowndes County) So I got back into sports cars. Since selling my Porsche in 1970 I’ve always wanted another Porsche so in January 2017 I found a nice 2000 911 Coupe in Pelham that I bought and I love it. I am so glad to be back into sports cars. I also had a 1967 MG Midget (Blue with Wire Wheels) that I sold in 1978 for $350.00 ..DUH!..again.
My favorite movie stars have always been Steve McQueen and John Wayne. I’ve seen the movies Great Escape and Le Mans about 10 times. In June 1996 I had the pleasure of having Lunch with General Chuck Yeager at Maxwell AFB along with my Dad who was a veteran of the 8th Air Force in WWII.That was an experience.
I love British Sports cars and have always wanted a Jag XKE but they are too expensive. I would love to have my old MGB back but it went to Michigan somewhere so I’ll just keep driving my Porsche as long as I can afford to keep it running. ..I am Proud to be a member of the British Motor Club of Montgomery…Larry Miller
