On Saturday, April 20 — a perfectly beautiful spring day, BMC motorers met at Flips on Vaughn Road for our monthly repast/road trip outing. Bill & Barbara Berg led us on a lunch run to Johnny Brusco’s Pizza on Moore’s Mill Road, in Auburn.
Bill advertised this as the first annual pizza run to Johnny Brusco’s New York Style Pizzeria, implying that we have many more to look forward to. Johnny’s has a comprehensive Italian menu including salads, calzones, Italian specialty dinners and subs in addition to pizza.
It was A-Day game day in the loveliest village, but Bill found a route that completely avoided the game-day traffic. US highways 80 and 29 east and north of Tuskegee are a delightful combination of rolling hills and sweeping curves and the drive along Shell Toomer Parkway, Wright’s Mill Road, and Ogletree Road are like driving through a park. Not only were there no traffic problems on our scenic route, we had the restaurant virtually to ourselves. We enjoyed meeting John & Angela and seeing their “new” 1959 MGA. It was also good to see TJ & Marc and their MINI Cooper S, again. We missed having several of the lunch run regulars, but for those who went, good times were had by all. Thanks to Bill and Barbara for making this happen.
