Let’s face it . . .
English cars need currying and combing, that constant laying on of hands that a Buick or Toyota can go years without.
Fortunately for our club members, Blitz Welch facilitated a morning of close inspection of our Brit beauties, with the benefit of a hydraulic lift to ease inspection of the leaking parts, you know, everything underneath. We had a good showing with a broad range of British vehicles, from MINI, to Classic Mini, to MG. Triumph, however stole the show, with three representatives of the TR range from 3 to 6, along with two of Blitz’s Spitfires, which have a ways to go before they rejoin us on the road.
After a enjoyable morning of fiddling, tightening, tugging, and head-scratching, our membership went their separate ways, save Bill Berg, Russell, and I, who headed to Midtown Pizza Kitchen for a delicious pie.
After lunch, we headed home and I followed Bill out. His shiny silver lady was a sight to see, with her burly exhaust scaring small children and nervous modern automobiles. That’s a scene that makes all the currying and combing worthwhile!
