President Hank Sims called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M. on August 12, 2019 at Jan’s Beach House Grill. There were 19 members present and two guests. Hank welcomed Ryan and Melissa Runge who have a 1986 right hand drive Mini. Treasurer Andy Martin gave the financial report. Russell Whigham stated that Tom Miro wrote an article for the website about all of the work he is doing on Doc Peden’s cars.
Old business was discussed. Tom reported on the breakfast run to D’Road Café on July 13. There were three club-related cars at the August 2 Lower Dexter First Friday Cruise-in, a 55 Pontiac, a McLaren and a Mini. Doc, Earl Garner, Russell, Mike Ranieri and Tom participated.
New business was discussed. There are no events scheduled for the month of August mostly due to the heat. Hank listed several upcoming car shows including the Callaway Gardens Hot Air Balloon and Classic Car Show on August 31, Brits on the Shoals on September 7 and Brits in the Valley on September 21.
Andy gave an update on British Car Day, October 12. The location of the show is still up in the air but there are several ideas for a Plan B. David Price and Blitz Welch are working on two other options. A decision will be made by noon on August 16 and an email will be sent out to members.
David asked that members let him know by August 31 if they are going on the Tired Butts tour to Chattanooga, November 15-17. He must have a count so that trip planners, Amanda Welch and Debra Sims can find restaurants along the way that can handle a large group. Sites to visit will include Rock City and the Coker Tire Museum. The trip will be on back roads for most of the way.
David gave an update on the location of cars owned by late BMCM member, Bobby Gunter. David has fielded several calls from the new owners asking for info on the cars.
Being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:50 P.M.
