2019 1st Friday, Lower Dexter Cruise-ins

Standard Operating Procedure for the 1st Friday Cruise-ins (Weather permitting):

We will meet in front of the First Baptist Church. The address is 305 South Perry Street, Montgomery AL 36104 for you all who love GPS. There is parking lot, which may be open, and street parking which nearly always is. [MAP]

Register your car for the upcoming show at the organization’s website:  https://www.lowerdexter.org .  Scroll down to the bottom and have at it.
.
The event starts at 1730 (5:30pm).  They’ll want us in place by 4: 45 p.m, and parking the group together is always a plus.  Let’s gather at the church at 1700 (4:30pm) and we’ll roll the last few blocks as a gaggle.  A pod?  A murder?  What do you call a pile of cars?
.
See you there and bring a chair!

June – Rained out

July –  Tom brought Dr. Peden’s 1954 Chevy Bel Air, David, his ’59 MGA, Bill & Susan in their ’62 MGB, Andy in the TR6, Mike S. in his XJ6, & Russell in the MINI.  Blitz, Amanda, and Dr. Peden joined us there. We also visited with BMC friends: Cris & Carol Moody (MINI), and Linton W. (of Morris Minor fame) and Mike R. and his McLaren MP4-12C Spyder.  Heat index at 5pm only 105.  We cooled off in the Irish Bred Pub until the sun was mostly below the surrounding buildings.  July PHOTOS

August – Even with temperatures ten degrees cooler than last month, we had a smaller but enthusiastic group representing BMCM:  Tom brought Dr. Peden’s recently resurrected  1955 Pontiac Chieftain, Mike Ranieri in the McLaren 12C, Russell in the R56 MINI Cooper S, and Larry Miller in his 911 Porsche.  Dr. Peden was on hand to admire Tom’s work on the Pontiac, Barry Morton and Earl Garner were there for a visit, and BMC friends Linton Ward, Jan Dzuirlik, and Jason Adams with their “other cars”.  We hope they bring their British cars to show in October when BMC is the host club.  July-August [PHOTOS]

September -Last minute (Friday AM) carb gasket failure in Dr. Peden’s 1956 Cadillac had Tom calling an audible and taking the ’36 Ford.  Excessive heat had her spitting water onto the dizzy and stalling out three times on the way to his house.  It stalled out once on the way home after the show.  It needs a radiator cap, soonest!  Ordering tonight.

Attendees included:
The ’36 RHD Ford and Tom
Larry and his 911
David and his ’59 MGA/B
Mike Rainieri and his McLaren MP4 12-C (Betty joined us later)
Rodney and his wife arrived in the A/H 3000 Mk III.  Looked and sounded great.
They had us down by the park near the fountain, which turned out to be a blessing in disguise, with shade and strong breezes taking the edge off the blowtorch heat.
Dan showed up sans car, as did Blitz and Amanda – the fellow with the Morris was there and had her out on the show line.

No pics, I am afraid.

October – At last, a cool day on Lower Dexter, right?  Wrong!  Another 102 degree event as the British Motoring Club is spotlighted as the host club for the final First Friday event on Lower Dexter for 2019.
