In the promo for this trip, your event planner had promised temps in the forties and sunny skies. Well, I got all of that right except for the sun and temperature was off by only 10 degrees. Nonetheless, twenty-something people in a dozen vehicles motored up the twisty roads around Lake Martin on our destination to a hearty meal at Niffer’s on the Lake.
On Saturday, January 13, we met at the Burger King at 850 N Eastern Blvd. and headed out at 10:00am, as planned. Proper Little British Cars were conspicuous by their absence for our first road trip of the new year. Two Jaguars and four MINIs represented Britannia along with a cosmopolitan queue of cars that included a Honda, Porsche, Lexus, Toyota, Acadia, and a Subaru. We arrived just after 11:00am and among Niffer’s first patrons of the day. Our wait and kitchen staff were prepared for anything and never skipped a beat filling orders from their considerable menu options.
With belts a little tighter, we retraced our route around Martin Dam, then through Eclectic and Wetumpka before arriving back in Montgomery. We hope that all of our ill and injured cars and drivers will be with us on our February trip to Red’s Little Schoolhouse.
