Our annual Christmas dinner party was held at Islamorada Fish Company inside the Bass Pro Shop in Prattville on Sunday, December 10, 2017. Original plans had to be changed at the last minute since Sugar B’s Bakery and Cafe had to move to a new location and renovation at their new location could not be completed by our reserved date. Verna Green called several places and found only one that could accommodate our group during this busy season. It turned out to be a lovely place, and everyone seemed to enjoy their meal and visiting with friends in the large private dining room. Twenty-six members attended.
In lieu of Dirty Santa, members made cash donations to Children’s Harbor. The total amount of checks payable to Children’s Harbor was $354.50.
At the conclusion of dinner, David presented two annual awards to members who most exemplify the aims of the British Motoring Club. The Needham Award recognizes a member for club participation, and this year’s award was presented to Tom Miro. He goes beyond the call of duty in making house calls to help, repair, and encourage members to have their cars rolling again. His enthusiasm is contagious! Terry Young, was the recipient of the The Canavan Award for the most improved car. Terry spent many hours restoring his 1980 MGB before he moved to Delaware. Congratulations again to Tom and Terry!
