Several months ago, Bill & Barbara asked if we could have our British cars on display for the Pike Road Arts & Crafts Fair. This provides greater exposure for our club than any of other the year’s other public events. We had perfect weather and a great turn out for the fair. Those meeting at the Pike Road Town Hall to caravan down to the fair included:
- Dan, MGB, LE
- Brandon, MGB, LE
- Ron & Joyce, MINI Cooper S Cabriolet
- Scott, MINI Cooper S
- Russell, MINI Cooper S
- Hank & Deborah, Jaguar XJS
- Karen (Ron’s daughter), Jaguar XJS
- Don, Jaguar XK8
- Terry & Georgia, Jaguar XK8
- Earl & Kay, Sunbeam Alpine
- Blitz & Amanda, Triumph Spitfire
- David, MGA
- Doc Peden, Rolls Royce Corniche
Following some confusion about where we were to park, we finally found Barbara. She directed us to an area along the parking field that granted maximum exposure. Brandon stayed with the cars (while the rest of us looked at all of the vendor wares) to answer questions from British car owners and those who were considering getting into the hobby.
Terry & Georgia in their XK8, after seeing that we had a better than usual showing of British cars for the fair, decided to join Tom Miro in his Triumph TR6, and represent BMC at the Birmingham Motoring Club car show at Brookwood Mall, in Birmingham. Birmingham, due to a problem securing the location they used last year, had to reschedule their show after we had already committed to Pike Road. They had brought a large delegation to our show and we wanted to reciprocate, but we did we best we could under the circumstances. Thanks to Tom & Terry for making the trip for the rest of us.
