The 4th of July – fire works – picnics – family get togethers – and parades. Seems we did it all this past Saturday. Oh Yes, we had a bit of rain, too! But that was later on spoiling most fireworks displays.
Our British Motoring Club of Montgomery turned out in mass for the Pike Road, Alabama, annual 4th of July Parade Saturday. Our British cars didn’t quite number the Model A Club but our showing was stellar. We had an Bob’s MGB, David’s MGA, Don and Terry XK8s and Scott’s MINI Cooper! Part of the parade and we taking credit for one more car was Bill and Barbra’s Lexus – Barbara is this year’s Pike Road Citizen of the Year! Of course, Russell was on the parade route snapping photos as we went by. We just needed a few beads to toss…
The weather was pleasant – definitely top-down. The entire parade route (about 1/2 mile) took about 20 minutes to complete. I knew it would be short but “holy cow”! Following the parade we assembled at Blitz & Amanda’s who again opened their home for our club for an old fashion 4th of July picnic/barbecue.
A great day for all and a great turn out!
