On Saturday, June 06, we enjoyed a cool, early morning breakfast run to the 1220 Cafe in Tallassee. We met at the Burlington Coat Factory parking lot, rolling out at 8:00AM under blue skies with a few puffy-white clouds, at a pleasant 75 degrees. The tree-lined roads were still benefiting from the long shadows. With light traffic and miraculously hitting ALL of the traffic lights in the green mode, we arrived at our destination via the smooth, undulating, and curvy Elmore County roads, in a mere 35 minutes. In our caravan were: Cathy & I in the MINI, Don & Verna in their XK8, David in his MGA, Wayne & Bob in Bob’s MGB, Terry & his friend Freddy in the XK8, and Bill & Barbara in the Triumphus. Meeting us in Tallassee were Ron & Joyce in the Galaxie 500 convertible, and Fred & Sharon in her Austin Healey 3000.
Cathy had reserved the private dining room for our group. After placing our orders, we gathered there for some good breakfast and excellent fellowship. The kitchen staff and the wait staff at 1220 met and exceeded all expectations. As we adjourned to the parking lot, we had the requisite tire-kicking as we admired Fred’s work on the Big Healey. By 10:00 we were on the way home again. Thanks to all who came.
