This was our first outing since last spring that some had to decide: “Top up or top down? – Long sleeve or short?”. On October 18, we met at the Burlington Coat Factory parking lot under a bright blue sky with a light breeze — a near perfect fall day. It took us just over an hour to motor up to Niffer’s via the smooth, hilly, and curvy ribbons of asphalt of Redland Road, Friendship Road, Cherokee Trail, AL 229, AL 50 & 49. Once we crossed the Tallapoosa River (the first time), we were traffic light free until the end of Redland Road on the way back home.
Following our meal – with belts a little tighter – we enjoyed more visiting and tire-kicking before we began back-tracking to Martin Dam for a photo-shoot. We met several great new folks who share our passion on this trip. Here’s the MAP of our route.
British motorers included: David & Bree in the MGA, Mac in his MGB, Bob & Marion in their MGB, Pam in her MGBGT, Don & Verna in their Jaguar XK8, Terry & Georgia in their Jaguar XK8, Andy in his Triumph TR6, Steve & Joan in their Triumph GT6, Bill & Barbara in the Lexus SC 430, Don in his Honda S2000, with Ron, Blitz & Amanda, John & Shirley, Jennifer, Everett & Carmen, and Brenda in their domestics.
The MGs, Triumphs, and Jaguars of the British Motoring Club shared the great roads around Lake Martin with the River Region MINIs. River Region MINIacs included: Alex – R56 S, Russell & Cathy – R56 S, Brian & Jun Qua – R56 S, Carol & Paul – R60, Laura & Michael – F56, Shey & Terri – R53 S, Jeff – R53 S, and Wayne, erstwhile R56 owner.
