16th British Car Day

See Pictures at the end!

Music. The musical tunes were fantastic and added to our fun gathering this year. Many thanks to Lloyd Stockton, President of the Capital City Street Rod Association for providing a great addition to our show. The tunes fit and we had use of a PA system for the first time. Be sure and thank our fellow car hobbyists.

I left the site for a short time to get my MG and when I returned, could not believe my eyes. A Ford had been let in! It is always a treat to see what Adams Hudson will bring to our show. This year a Ford GT. What a beautiful car. Adams has shared 3 Ferraris, a Pantera, and now the Ford GT at our shows. He teasingly said he told his wife two weeks before the show he had to buy something new just for our show. Less than a week later he bought the GT.

I loved the Porsches and hope we can build on our sports cars that are not British. It was nice to see James Hester again.  James has taken a step up I suppose. He used to bring an MG-M Type to our shows, but was in a lovely red Porsche 911 Targa this year. Rich James’ 914-6 was even more fantastic than I remembered. Whale tails – how can you not love them?  James Crabb’s 911SC sported one for us.

We had a good mix of British cars as always, but a few really stood out.  Robin’s Radical race car and open trailer added to our show in a unique way.  Seeing some metal on Bill Berg’s TR-3 is a welcome sight.  Malcolm’s Range Rover certainlywas an interest gatherer. But the cream always rises to the top doesn’t it? Public voting got it right this year. Kim McCabe’s TR-250 was immaculate. Larry Sharpton’s MGB was stunning in its black paint. Allen William’s Healey always looks great. You would never know he had the motor & tranny out 3 times in the two weeks before our show.

Thanks to everyone who helped this year. Things ran very smoothly and on time. Few people know Blitz had huge problems getting the prints done. He got the job done and deserves a huge thank you for his efforts. Lastly, I hope everyone left that really good looking car on their awards!
